Alex Garland Returns from the Lands Between - Elden Ring Adaptation Filming Concluded
The premiere of the most expensive film in A24's history is scheduled for March 3, 2028.
Principal photography for the feature film adaptation of Elden Ring has concluded after four months. This was announced by prop master Sean Schofield, who previously worked on "The Witcher" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
In confirmation, Schofield posted a photo of a commemorative gift and a thank-you letter to the crew, signed by director Alex Garland and the film's producers. The prop master himself worked on the project for six months:
"A dream job among all dream jobs. Six months of blood, sweat, and tears: we created the coolest things and worked side-by-side with the best of the best. I won't be able to share anything for a very long time, but I'm incredibly proud of what we've done."
The film crew worked in the UK and Iceland. Some scenes were created in London, Scotland, and Wales, including Conwy Castle, Dinorwig Quarry, and Dolbadarn Castle. According to media reports, the film's budget exceeds $100 million, making Elden Ring the most expensive project in A24's history.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. Footage released during production allowed glimpses of Queen Marika, the Dung Eater, and Sorcerer Rogier. Other photos showed sets resembling Stormveil Castle and Liurnia of the Lakes. It is currently unknown whether the film will be a direct adaptation of the game's events or tell an independent story within the Lands Between universe.
The main roles were played by Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, and Nick Offerman. The actors' characters have not yet been revealed. George R. R. Martin, who participated in the creation of the original Elden Ring mythology, is one of the producers.
The premiere of the adaptation will take place on March 3, 2028, and the film will also be released in IMAX format.
