The creators of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" promise to make the third season the most ambitious and technologically advanced in the project's history.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, "The Rings of Power" showrunner Patrick McKay admitted that for one of the battle scenes in the third season, the team literally had to develop a new camera system from scratch.

It was needed for an episode featuring the elf Arondir, played by Ismael Cruz Córdova. The creators wanted to keep the character in frame during a dynamic battle as he shot orcs with his bow on the move, but standard equipment simply couldn't convey the required level of dynamism:

"For one of the scenes, we had to develop a special camera system to be literally up close to him as he fired arrows at full speed and turned orcs into dust. It looked incredible."

The creators are keeping the details of the technology a secret for now, but Córdova himself confirmed that his character will have a record number of battle scenes in the new season. If Arondir previously pursued personal goals, he will now be at the center of the plot and lead the elven forces alongside Galadriel and Elrond.

The events of the third season begin five years after the finale of the second part. The premiere of the new episodes on Prime Video is scheduled for November 11, 2026.
