The third season of "The Rings of Power" will feature Elros - Aragorn's ancestor
Robert Aramayo will play two legendary sons of Eärendil at once.
The third season of the series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" will for the first time feature Elros – Elrond's twin brother, the first king of Númenor, and a distant ancestor of Aragorn. Showrunner Patrick McKay revealed this in an interview with Empire magazine.
The character will appear in a flashback dedicated to the founding of the island kingdom. Robert Aramayo, who also plays Elrond, will portray Elros. This scene is expected to help reveal the origin of Númenor amidst the escalating conflict between the Faithful and the supporters of Ar-Pharazôn.
Elros and Elrond were born half-elves but were given the choice to determine their own destiny. Elrond joined the elves and gained immortality, while his brother chose the fate of men. Elros founded Númenor, ruled it for 410 years, and died at the age of 500. His lineage, several millennia later, continued through Isildur and then Aragorn.
Elrond's story will also continue after the fall of Eregion:
"This season is going to be interesting. Elrond now has his own little house. He has his own little place in Rivendell. I was very happy that the series is going to show that."
The third season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" premieres on Prime Video on November 11, 2026. The first four episodes will be released on the premiere day.
