Firefly Comic Convention organizers prevented visitors from drinking juice from cosplayers' dirty feet - all participants of the action were expelled from the event

Initially, the trend appeared in the USA, but now it has reached Asia.

In China, the organizers of the Firefly Comic Convention anime festival in Guangzhou expelled a group of cosplayers who decided to replicate the viral trend of selling so-called "foot juice," which had previously gained popularity in the USA.

The unusual idea first attracted attention in May 2026 at the Parkcon event, held concurrently with FanimeCon in San Jose. At that time, a cosplayer dressed as Hatsune Miku sold visitors glasses of liquid, the cost of which reached 15 dollars. Despite the mixed reactions online, the entire batch was sold out in less than an hour.

A few months later, the trend reached Asia. During the Firefly Comic Convention, held in Guangzhou from July 17 to 20, several female cosplayers set up near the festival entrance, dipping their bare feet into plastic containers with lemonade and cola. Their assistants poured the drink into disposable cups and sold it to those interested for 50 yuan (about 7 dollars) per serving.

According to the South China Morning Post, demand was so high that supply quickly ran out: dozens of buyers lined up at the makeshift point.

Videos posted online showed that the situation quickly got out of control. Some visitors began to drink the beverage directly from the containers, kneeling, while others licked the liquid directly from the cosplayers' feet.

After the intervention of the organizers, all participants of the action were removed from the festival grounds. Representatives of Firefly Comic Convention also stated that in the future, similar "trading points" will be officially banned.
