Lucasfilm has unveiled the final trailer for the anime series "Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi." The project will be a full-fledged continuation of the short film of the same name from the first and third seasons of the animated anthology "Star Wars: Visions," created by the Japanese studio Production I.G under the direction of Kenji Kamiyama.
The story is set in the distant future, when the Jedi Order has almost disappeared. The plot once again centers on Kara, the daughter of master armorer Lah Zhima. Her father created six unique lightsabers to revive the Order, but soon after, he was captured by the Sith. Kara then took one of the sabers and set out to find her father and other surviving followers of the Force.
"The Ninth Jedi" will be the first project in the new Star Wars: Visions Presents lineup, within which Lucasfilm plans to turn the most popular stories from "Visions" into standalone series.
The project will premiere on August 5 on Disney+ and Hulu. The first season will consist of eight episodes.
