ANOMALITH horror demo unexpectedly became a hit outside Japan - developers are trying to find out why
The demo was released last week and will be available until August 7.
Japanese publisher FuRyu announced that the demo version of the action game ANOMALITH, released on Steam for a limited time, attracted unexpectedly high interest from a Western audience. So much so that the developers decided to directly ask players to explain what exactly interested them in the project.
According to FuRyu, just a few days after launch, the developers noticed a sharp increase in the number of Steam wish list additions, as well as new social media followers outside Japan.
For FuRyu, such interest from a foreign audience was unexpected, as the company's projects are usually primarily focused on the domestic market. Now the developers want to understand what exactly caused such high interest: the visual style, the combination of nostalgia for the Showa era with the "backrooms" concept, the gameplay, or other features of the project.
