Kaiju No. 8 spin-off about Gen Narumi gets first trailer and premiere date

The four-episode mini-series will show the daily life of the First Division captain.

The creators of the anime "Kaiju No. 8" have unveiled the first trailer for the spin-off Kaiju No. 8: Narumi’s Week at Work and announced its premiere date. The first episode will be released on September 5, 2026, with new episodes published every Saturday on the TOHO animation YouTube channel and other platforms.

The main character of the project will be Gen Narumi — captain of the First Division and one of the strongest fighters in the Japan Self-Defense Force. Unlike the main story, which focuses on battles with kaiju, the spin-off will show the hero in everyday situations.

The episodes are titled:

  • "The Platoon Commander's True Feelings";
  • "The Vice Captain's Worries";
  • "That Guy from the West";
  • "Bonds of Classmates".

Production I.G and Studio Khara are once again responsible for the production. The former handles animation, while the latter continues to work on kaiju design. Yutaka Izubuchi is the director, and Mahiro Maeda prepared the character designs.
