New Mutant Leader: Kit Connor to Play Cyclops in "X-Men" Reboot - Media

Marvel Studios is gradually assembling a team of mutants for the franchise reboot.

According to Deadline and insider Jeff Sneider, Kit Connor has been cast as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in Marvel Studios' new "X-Men." The "Heartstopper" star will be the third actor to play the role in live-action films, following James Marsden and Tye Sheridan.

Earlier, insiders reported that Cyclops would become the leader of a new mutant team in the reboot. Jean Grey, who is already known to be played by Sadie Sink, will join him. Media also reported on Samara Weaving's selection for the role of Emma Frost, but Marvel has not yet officially announced the cast of the new "X-Men."

The reboot will be directed by "Thunderbolts" director Jake Schreier. "Beef" creator Lee Sung Jin and "The Bear" writer Joanna Calo are working on the new script. The start dates for filming and the premiere have not yet been announced.
