The Quake remaster is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC

Bethesda Softworks, in collaboration with id Software and Nightdive Studios, has released a free update for the Quake remaster, which came out in 2021. The main new feature is the story expansion Dawn of the Machine, developed by MachineGames.

The new episode is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the iconic shooter. According to Bethesda, the developers aimed to expand on the ideas of previous expansions, Dimension of the Machine and Dimension of the Past, offering players even more intense battles, intricate levels, and surreal worlds that distort reality.

The events of Dawn of the Machine tell the story of Ranger, trapped in an endless illusion. The hero relives the same bloody cycle again and again, dying countless times in futile attempts to escape. The only hope is the mysterious The Nightmare Machine – it is believed that destroying this mechanism will break the illusion and allow him to escape the endless loop forever.

Players will have to fight their way through hordes of monsters, changed by an eternity spent in ancient dimensions, and reach the source of the nightmare to put an end to the endless cycle.
