Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold nearly 24 million units and significantly outperforms the original Switch

Maintaining the current sales pace of Switch 2 will be challenging.

Nintendo has published a fresh financial report, revealing the current sales figures for its gaming consoles and software as of June 30.

According to the report, sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 have reached 23.68 million units. In the last financial quarter alone, the company sold 3.82 million consoles, thanks to which the new system significantly outperforms the original Nintendo Switch in terms of sales pace in its first year after launch.

At the same time, the first generation Nintendo Switch remains in demand. Total console sales have reached 155.92 million units, with another 770 thousand units sold in the last three months.

In the software segment, the original Switch still maintains a strong advantage. For the reporting quarter, 33.81 million copies of games were sold for it, while game sales for Switch 2 amounted to 10.78 million copies.

One of the main sales drivers for the first Switch was Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which has already sold 7.94 million copies. Among Switch 2 exclusives, the most successful new release was Pokémon Pokopia with 3.68 million copies sold. However, Nintendo did not disclose sales figures for some recent releases, including the new Star Fox.

However, maintaining the current sales pace of Switch 2 will be challenging. On September 1, the console will become more expensive on the global market: its recommended price will increase from $450 to $500.
