Some fans believed that the postponement of "The Batman - Part II" was related to the parallel production of a threequel.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn debunked the rumor that Matt Reeves is simultaneously filming the second and third parts of "The Batman" with Robert Pattinson. Some fans suggested that this might explain the latest postponement of the sequel.

The discussion was sparked by an updated logo for "The Batman – Part II" published by journalist Bill Ramey. Instead of the usual number two, it featured the Roman numeral III, after which some fans speculated that Reeves was preparing two sequels at once.

One user directly asked Gunn if the second and third parts were being filmed simultaneously and if this explained the film's delay. The DC Studios co-CEO responded unequivocally: "I can debunk that."

Thus, Gunn's answer closes the theory of parallel filming, but it does not, in itself, rule out the possibility of a third film in the future.

Originally, "The Batman – Part II" was scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. Now, the film's premiere is set for February 18, 2028.
