Five Sams at Once: Serious Sam: Shatterverse Shooter to be Released by End of August

The game will be released on PC and consoles.

Devolver Digital and Behaviour Interactive have announced the release date for Serious Sam: Shatterverse — a new multiplayer first-person shooter set in the Serious Sam universe. The game will be available on August 31st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.

The events of Serious Sam: Shatterverse unfold in a multiverse where the boundaries between realities have been shattered due to the actions of Uber Mental. As a result, several versions of Sam Stone from different dimensions are forced to unite to restore order and stop the villain, who has already managed to defeat the hero in many alternative timelines.

Players will become part of the Serious Program organization, which opposes Mental across various universes. As they progress, they must defeat five powerful lieutenants of the main antagonist, each serving as a distinct boss.

The developers promise classic dynamic gameplay for the series with a huge number of enemies, but complement it with roguelike elements. After each failed attempt, players will be able to unlock new upgrades, strengthen their character, and experiment with various modifiers that change the conditions of the playthrough.

The arsenal will combine iconic weapons from previous Serious Sam installments with entirely new weaponry. In addition, the game will feature anomalies, hidden portals, and risky events that can either significantly empower the hero or instantly end a run.

Familiar monsters from the series will return among the enemies, but they will be joined by new creatures under Mental's control. All battles will take place in hand-crafted arenas, and the structure of each playthrough will change thanks to procedural generation.
