After the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved, reports of possible layoffs at Halo Studios appeared online. The reason for the rumors was posts by several developers on LinkedIn who reported losing their jobs shortly after the game's release. This raised concerns that the studio, formerly known as 343 Industries, had also fallen victim to a new wave of layoffs in Microsoft's gaming division.
However, according to GamesBeat journalist Dean Takahashi, this is not about internal layoffs of full-time employees. According to his source, only external contractors lost their jobs, whose collaboration ended after the project's release.
While this information dispelled rumors of mass layoffs within the studio, it does not guarantee that similar measures will not occur in the future. It was previously announced that Xbox plans to cut approximately 1,600 more employees during fiscal year 2027 as part of an ongoing business restructuring.
