Filming for the second season of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" has concluded. Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, announced the completion of the work. Now, the prequel to "Game of Thrones" moves into the post-production phase.
Initially, the filming process was planned to finish in June, but the weather in the Canary Islands complicated the work. The creators chose the local arid landscapes to depict the drought-stricken Reach, but during filming, a once-in-a-century storm hit the islands. The set was flooded, and local authorities declared a state of emergency, causing production to be paused several times.
The second season will be based on George Martin's novella "The Sworn Sword." Dunk and Egg will enter the service of the impoverished knight Eustace Osgrey and become embroiled in his conflict with Lady Rohanne Webber, known as the Red Widow. Additionally, showrunner Ira Parker previously revealed that George Martin provided the creators with drafts from his archives containing never-before-published material. Therefore, viewers will receive additional content that was not in the original novella.
Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will return to their roles as Dunk and Egg. Newcomers include Lucy Boynton as Rohanne Webber, Peter Mullan as Ser Eustace Osgrey, and Babou Ceesay, who plays Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield.
Despite production delays, the second season of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is still planned for release in the first half of 2027. The sequel will consist of six episodes, each lasting approximately 35 minutes.
