"The Dark Knight" Defeated: "Odyssey" Becomes Christopher Nolan's Highest-Grossing Film

"Odyssey" has become the highest-grossing film in Christopher Nolan's career, not accounting for inflation. In just 24 days, the adaptation of Homer's poem earned over $1.104 billion worldwide.

North America accounted for $461.1 million, while international distribution brought in another $643.6 million. "Odyssey" surpassed "The Dark Knight Rises," which ended its run with $1.085 billion, and "The Dark Knight," which earned $1.008 billion.

Simultaneously, "Odyssey" rose to second place among the highest-grossing films of 2026. Only "Spider-Man: A New Day" is ahead with over $1.26 billion. The top three is rounded out by "Toy Story 5," whose box office reached $1.09 billion.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's films' cumulative box office has exceeded $7 billion. The theatrical run of "Odyssey" continues, with two major markets still ahead: the film will premiere in China on August 14 and reach Japan on September 11. Demand also remains strong in the US – according to Deadline, IMAX screenings in Los Angeles and New York are practically sold out until October.
