Cloud version servers for Aliens: Fireteam Elite on Switch have been shut down - those who bought the game can no longer play it
Meanwhile, the game is still available on other platforms.
The cloud version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite for Nintendo Switch has finally stopped working. The servers required to run the game were shut down on August 5, as a result of which owners of the purchased version can no longer access it.
The action game from Cold Iron Studios originally launched in August 2021 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In April 2023, the game made its way to Nintendo Switch, but due to the console's insufficient performance, the developers did not release a full native port. Instead, only a cloud version was offered.
The standard edition cost $29.99, while the Ultimate Edition with the base game and additional content was $59.99. However, the purchase effectively provided access to the game via streaming, rather than a local version that could be run directly on the console.
In early 2026, Aliens: Fireteam Elite was removed from the Nintendo eShop. Players received a notification that the game's cloud servers would be shut down on August 5. Now the shutdown has taken place, and the Switch version has finally become unavailable.
