Authorities ban horror game Halloween: The Game due to mind-altering substances
The upcoming asymmetrical horror game Halloween: The Game will not be released in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian Classification Board refused to assign an age rating to the game, making its official sale in the region impossible.
Developer IllFonic announced this on social media, noting that the team did everything possible to get permission to release the game in Australia. However, they failed to obtain a rating.
The reason for the ban was not Michael Myers or the brutal murders that players can commit as the iconic maniac. According to the developers, the classification board denied the game a rating due to the presence of mind-altering substances in it.
In other countries, the game will be released on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition will be able to start playing earlier – on September 4.
