Journalists found out why Zack Snyder visited Warner Bros. studio last week

The director was greeted as a hero, although not all studio executives were pleased with his appearance.

Last week, Zack Snyder visited Warner Bros. and posted a photo near the studio's famous water tower. The director did not explain the reason for his visit, so fans quickly linked his return to a possible new DC comics project.

Now Page Six has found out why Snyder visited the studio. Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy invited the filmmaker to host a special screening of "Excalibur" – John Boorman's 1981 Arthurian fantasy – for employees.

Photography was prohibited at the event, but after the screening, Snyder, along with De Luca and Abdy, held a Q&A session about the film. The director was greeted as a hero: the hall was so overcrowded that some guests had to stand.

De Luca and Abdy have been organizing such screenings since 2022, introducing employees to classics from the Warner Bros. library. Previously, Patty Jenkins presented "Blade Runner," and Oliver Stone presented "JFK." Recently, these events have also helped support the team amidst uncertainty surrounding the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount. One executive interviewed by Page Six described the atmosphere at the studio as "demoralized."

However, not everyone was happy about Snyder's return. Some executives questioned the invitation due to the history with "Justice League" and the long-standing #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign: "What are Mike and Pam thinking?"

Nevertheless, since 2021, almost all executives and creative team members with whom Snyder had conflicts have left Warner Bros. Therefore, Page Six views the director's invitation as a possible step towards reconciliation with the studio, although there is no talk of returning to superhero films yet.

The publication suggests that cooperation may resume in another form. Snyder is preparing a remake of "Escape from New York" for StudioCanal, and Warner Bros. may handle the film's distribution in the future thanks to an agreement with StudioCanal's parent company.
