"Spider-Man: A New Day" Debunked Superhero Fatigue Myth - Marvel Star
The new film starring Tom Holland has already grossed nearly $1.7 billion worldwide.
Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, believes the success of "Spider-Man: A New Day" proves that audiences are not tired of superhero movies. According to Vellani, the public wanted the new film starring Tom Holland to succeed from the very beginning:
“People showed up in theaters in the first week. So, no one truly believed in superhero fatigue. No one thought the movie would fail because audiences were tired of it all. They wanted it to succeed.”
The actress believes that discussions about a genre crisis are largely fueled by the habit of approaching new films with distrust in advance. In her opinion, the success of "A New Day" showed that audiences are still willing to support good superhero cinema:
“We’re so used to cynicism and assuming everything new will suck, that it’s some kind of propaganda, or that people have too short an attention span. No, we can appreciate a good thing when we see it.”
"Spider-Man: A New Day" has already earned over $671 million in North America and is approaching the $700 million mark, which only six films have surpassed before. These include "Avengers: Endgame," "Spider-Man: No Way Home," and "Black Panther."
Meanwhile, the film's worldwide gross has approached $1.7 billion. "A New Day" has already become the highest-grossing film of 2026 and continues to move towards the $2 billion mark.
