Five Years of Waiting for a Few Frame Rearrangements - Star Wars Eclipse Reminded Us of Itself at D23

Lucasfilm showed a "new" trailer for Quantic Dream's project, which contained not a single new frame.

A Star Wars Eclipse trailer was shown at the Lucasfilm pavilion at D23. After several years of complete silence, the game's appearance might have seemed like a harbinger of new details, but visitors were shown an already familiar video.

The cinematic trailer with which Star Wars Eclipse was announced at The Game Awards in December 2021 was used as the basis. The authors only rearranged a few initial frames — and that was it. Predictably, this approach caused a wave of criticism on social media:

"This is the old trailer. They didn't even bother to make a new one? Or are you just misleading us by indicating 2026?"

Some viewers perceived the re-showing as an alarming signal after so many years of development:

"The fact that they can't show a single piece of new gameplay or cutscene is a serious concern after more than five years."

The very appearance of Star Wars Eclipse in the Lucasfilm pavilion shows that the company still includes the project in promotional materials, but one cannot judge the state of development based on this.

In early July, Quantic Dream officially stated that work on the game "is proceeding as planned," and the team has the necessary resources. Nevertheless, almost five years after the announcement, the developers have not yet shown gameplay or even named approximate release dates.
