Collectors will be unhappy: part of Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition will not be on disc

Sony and Sucker Punch have confirmed the physical release of Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition. This is good news for collectors, especially given Sony's plans to stop releasing games on disc from 2028.

However, there's a catch. The cover states that the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion will only be available after installing update 2.0 or newer. An internet connection and a PlayStation Network account will be required for download.

Thus, the expansion will not be recorded on the disc. This has sparked debate among physical game enthusiasts: many believe that a Complete Edition should contain all content directly on the media.

The reason for the decision is currently unknown. Most likely, it's due to the game's size: the base Ghost of Yotei already takes up a lot of space, and with the expansion, it might have exceeded the capacity of a single Blu-ray.
