"Witch Hat Atelier" Named Best Anime of the Year at Astra TV Awards

Kamome Shirahama's manga adaptation beat out "Sakamoto Days" and "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run."

"Witch Hat Atelier" won the award for Best Anime Series at the sixth Astra TV Awards. The winners were announced by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, an association of critics, journalists, and representatives of the American entertainment industry.

Along with Kamome Shirahama's manga adaptation, "Dandelion," MAO, "Rooster Fighter," "Sakamoto Days," and "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run" were also nominated for the award.

"Witch Hat Atelier" became the third anime to receive this award: the nomination appeared in 2024, and previous winners were "Solo Leveling" and "Dragon Ball Daima."

"Witch Hat Atelier" tells the story of Coco, a girl who has always dreamed of becoming a witch, despite the belief in her world that mages are born, not made. Everything changes after she meets the mysterious wizard Qifrey: thanks to him, Coco learns that the accepted truth about the nature of magic is actually a deception. The girl becomes Qifrey's apprentice and begins to master the magical craft.

The first season from BUG FILMS studio was released in spring 2026. A continuation is currently in production, but its premiere date has not yet been announced.
