Euro Truck Simulator 2 developers showed the Giant's Causeway and other Irish locations in real life - they traveled to make the Isle of Ireland DLC

News

The developers are recreating various locations in Ireland, including industrial sites.

The developers of the truck driver simulator Euro Truck Simulator 2 presented a diary dedicated to the Isle of Ireland add-on. They had already shown screenshots of early versions of the locations, and now decided to talk about how the reference gathering process went.

Several members of the SCS Software team went on a road trip across Ireland — friends from Skoda Ireland helped by providing several cars:

The journey began in Dublin, where the team gathered together and then embarked on a grand road trip across most of Ireland. The route went from Dublin through Rosslare Port, Waterford, Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Galway, Westport, Sligo, Londonderry, Bushmills, the Giant's Causeway, and Belfast, after which they finally returned to Dublin. So, as you can imagine, the team got to see a lot!

Thanks to the Czech Ambassador to Ireland and members of the embassy team, several special visits were organized for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 developers, including to a cement plant in Limerick — this helped them understand what "role truck drivers play in loading, unloading, and transporting materials every day."

Even before the trip, the developers understood that vegetation would need special attention — once in the country, they were convinced of this: "the grass in Ireland is indeed very green. It stands out, and this must be reflected on our map."

The release date or release window for the Isle of Ireland add-on for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has not yet been announced. You can add the DLC to your Steam wishlist via the following link.
