Mechanics VoiceOver failed to raise money for The Chronicles of Riddick voice acting, but an AI localization of Assault on Dark Athena has been released instead
Modern technologies helped solve the issue of game localization.
Last year, players noticed that the Mechanics VoiceOver (R.G. MVO) studio launched a fundraiser for the Russian voice acting of The Chronicles of Riddick. A total of 500 thousand rubles was planned to be collected — the funds were intended for the localization of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena.
However, according to the counter on the studio's Boosty channel, only a little over 4 thousand rubles have been raised so far. Fundraising for other projects, such as the Russian voice acting for Trine 5 and DLC for Trine 4, is progressing much better.
But recently, players got an alternative option — instead of "live" voice acting, they can use neural localization. Zarudnev, who creates such AI localizations, announced the release of voice acting for "a completely unexpected game" The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena:
Let's remember old Riddick, the voice acting was created for a subscriber — Sasha Kazak. The current version is already available. Corrections will be released based on testing results.
Russian AI voice acting for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena has already been published online for free access. Two versions are available: dubbing and voice-over.
