Creators of the anime "Sekiro: No Defeat" showed Isshin Ashina in a new character trailer

Kadokawa continues to introduce viewers to the characters of the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice adaptation.

The eighth character trailer for the anime "Sekiro: No Defeat" has been released on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel. The new video is dedicated to Isshin Ashina – a legendary swordsman and founder of the clan of the same name.

Two decades before the events of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Isshin seized the lands of Ashina in a bloody coup and defended their independence. By the beginning of the game, the elderly warrior is gravely ill, and his domains are preparing to be attacked by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Meanwhile, Isshin's grandson Genichiro tries to save the clan with forbidden powers, although the founder of Ashina himself does not approve of his chosen path.

The character was once again voiced by Tetsuo Kanao, who performed this role in the FromSoftware game.

"Sekiro: No Defeat" will transfer the plot of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice into hand-drawn 2D animation. The production is handled by Qzil.la studio, Ken'ichi Kutsuna is the director, Takuya Sato wrote the script, and Takashi Mukoda is in charge of battle scene direction.

The limited theatrical release of the anime in Japan will begin on September 4, 2026, and will last three weeks. Later, "Sekiro: No Defeat" will appear on Crunchyroll, but the digital release date has not yet been announced.
