Every Penny Counts: Halo Studios to Outsource Next Halo Games - Rumor
At least 15 teams worked on the remake.
Halo Studios is likely to significantly expand its use of third-party teams for the development of future Halo games. This is indicated by the well-known insider Rebs Gaming, who drew attention to the large number of external developers involved in the creation of Halo: Campaign Evolved.
According to him, the remake's credits list at least 15 third-party studios, including FX – Chamber, Arrival, Devoted Studios, Digic, and Keywords Studios. However, Abstraction is not specifically mentioned in the list of studios, although many of the company's employees are featured in the "Special Thanks" section.
The case with Abstraction is particularly interesting. It was previously reported that the studio performed a significant amount of work on porting Halo: Campaign Evolved from the original Blam engine to Unreal Engine 5. However, these developments were ultimately discarded, after which Halo Studios began porting the game to the new engine almost from scratch.
Contracting with third-party studios allows Xbox to significantly reduce costs and easily get rid of developers who have already completed their assigned tasks. Such legal tricks would not work with full-time employees.
