gamescom 2026 Exhibition to Be the Largest in the Event's History

News

The opening ceremony will take place on August 25.

With only a few days left until gamescom 2026, organizers are already calling the upcoming event the largest in the exhibition's history. Koelnmesse and the German games industry association game have confirmed record numbers for participants, international representation, and the scale of the indie section.

This year, Gamescom will host over 1600 exhibitors, with approximately 70% of them representing countries outside Germany. For comparison, in 2025, 1568 companies participated in the exhibition. In total, this year's Gamescom will bring together representatives from 67 countries.

Another record was set for the number of national pavilions. There will be 47, representing 40 states, whereas a year earlier there were 40 pavilions from 35 countries. For the first time, national pavilions from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria will be presented at Gamescom.

The total exhibition area has reached 233 thousand square meters, and for the first time in Gamescom's history, it is completely sold out. High demand is also observed among visitors: tickets for Saturday, as well as special tickets, have already sold out before the event.

The indie section has grown particularly significantly. This year, over 420 companies will participate, presenting hundreds of games. This is a 16% increase compared to 2025, when 364 developers were present in the indie zone. The organizers plan to make it one of Gamescom's central platforms for projects created outside the traditional model of large-budget development.

There will also be an extensive online program. One of the main events will be Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live, which will take place on August 25 at 9:00 PM Moscow time.
