GTA VI footage leaker threatens publishers: CYBERLEEK announces "three commandments" for gaming companies
The activist intends to fight against greed in the gaming industry.
First, a video appeared on social media, presumably showing Jason – one of the main characters of GTA VI – playing basketball. After that, new videos and information about the project began to spread online. Among them were reports of an alleged honor system and a leak of the full game map.
Social media users linked the incident to a person or group using the name CYBERLEEK. However, it is still unknown whether this pseudonym represents one person or several participants.
Particular attention was drawn to CYBERLEEK's statement, which formulated the so-called "three commandments" for game publishers:
- Do not sell digital pre-orders.
- Do not sell fictitious DLC for single-player games.
- Preserve content for single-player games.
CYBERLEEK claims to intend to fight publishers over various monetization methods that, in the author's opinion, have become the norm in the modern gaming industry.
CYBERLEEK was patient. That patience has run out.
According to the statement, if a publisher violates at least one of these "commandments," CYBERLEEK intends to attack them until the company publicly apologizes and presents a concrete plan to rectify the situation. The authors of the threat emphasize that mere words will not be enough, and "compensation for damages" will be required.
In the case of Rockstar Games, CYBERLEEK specifically demands explanations regarding content that allegedly became exclusive to a more expensive edition of GTA VI, as well as the digital pre-order system itself.
However, Rockstar, according to the statement, is far from the only target. In the concluding part of the manifesto, CYBERLEEK warns all major publishers, stating that the three points listed are only the "minimum" requirements.
The authors of the statement specifically emphasize that they will continue to disrupt companies' operations until they publicly acknowledge their mistakes. CYBERLEEK also rejects the possibility of secret negotiations and closed agreements.
If CYBERLEEK could get to Rockstar, no one is safe.
