"Spider-Man: A New Day" set a new record for North American box office. Sony Pictures confirmed that in its first 19 days, the film grossed $803.9 million in the US and Canada — no other film had previously crossed the $800 million mark so quickly. The previous record belonged to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which took 23 days to reach the same milestone.
"A New Day" also climbed to fourth place among the highest-grossing films in North American history, not accounting for inflation. Ahead of it are "Spider-Man: No Way Home" with $814.8 million, "Avengers: Endgame" with $858.3 million, and "The Force Awakens" with $936.6 million.
Thus, "A New Day" needs to collect about $11 million more to surpass the previous installment and set a new record among Spider-Man films in the US and Canada. Analysts suggest that by the end of its theatrical run, box office receipts could exceed $1 billion, making it the highest-grossing film in North American history.
Previously, "A New Day" crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide, becoming the eighth film in history to achieve such a result. The film has already surpassed "No Way Home" with its $1.9 billion and became Sony's highest-grossing release.
