Euro Truck Simulator 2 developers will simplify 100% map exploration and rework livestock trailers - beta update 1.61 released

News

You will no longer have to drive through every single road element.

The developers of the truck driver simulator Euro Truck Simulator 2 have introduced update 1.61. Players can now try out the new features before the full release as part of an open beta test.

The SCS Software team has decided to change the approach to map exploration in Euro Truck Simulator 2. The new feature is called "Proximity Exploration": when activated, the system will automatically mark a small area around the truck as "explored" while driving. This will eliminate a long-standing problem: players will no longer have to drive through every small section of road for it to be counted and included in the overall map exploration percentage.

Secret roads will remain secret even after the introduction of the Proximity Exploration feature — it will only show the first section of a secret road, and you will still need to drive through them manually.

Livestock trailers will also be reworked, and the Schwarzmuller trailer DLC pack will be updated.

A full description of update 1.61 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is available at the following link. You can join the beta testing of the update through the game's properties in Steam in the beta versions section: the branch is called "public_beta" and no password is required to access it.
