Weta Workshop opens pre-orders for Faramir statue based on "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"

In 2027, Weta Workshop plans to release a 1/6 scale Faramir statue based on "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." It depicts the Captain of Gondor on a galloping horse, leading an attack on the orc-occupied Osgiliath.

Weta Workshop has opened pre-orders for a limited edition Faramir statue based on "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." It can be purchased for $999 (86,442 rubles, limited to 860 copies).

The collectible depicts the Captain of Gondor on a full-gallop horse, clad in his recognizable armor, leading a doomed charge on Osgiliath. Sword thrust forward, mouth open in a battle cry – the sculpture captures the very moment Faramir leads his men into battle.

To accurately convey the power and grace of a galloping horse, sculptor Gary Hunt conducted in-depth studies of equine musculature and movement. Veterinary references, anatomical atlases, and video footage of moving horses formed the basis for every aspect of the sculpture. This attention to anatomy is evident throughout the piece. Muscles flex and stretch beneath the horse's skin, conveying both speed and weight, while the flowing strands of mane and tail give the sculpture a fluid grace.

The interplay between horse and rider is just as meticulously crafted: Faramir leans forward in the saddle, rising with the motion beneath him, while his chainmail and tassets naturally react to the momentum of the charge.

Recreating Faramir's likeness presented a separate challenge. The figurine captures both the features of actor David Wenham and the tension of commanding on the battlefield, preserving the moment his attack begins.

Scans of the original armor served as a basis, but every detail still required extensive scaling and adjustment to look convincing in such a dynamic pose.

The statue, made of polystone, metal, and polyurethane, is 45.7 cm high, 60 cm wide, 28 cm deep, and weighs 8.3 kg. Its release is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
