Portable Console with Dual Screens Retroid Pocket Duo to Feature Qualcomm Q-7790 Chip

Inside the portable console Retroid Pocket Duo, you'll find the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 chip with an Adreno 722 GPU. It is built on the same architecture as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. With such a chip, the device is unlikely to compete with the Ayn Thor clamshell with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Retroid continues to gain momentum and share new details with gamers about the portable console Pocket Duo, which will feature two OLED screens with a 120 Hz refresh rate: the top display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the bottom one with 4:3.

Today, the company announced that this device will receive the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 chip. This is an octa-core Kryo with a "1+4+3" architecture: 1 Gold+ performance core (up to 2.8 GHz), 4 Gold cores (up to 2.4 GHz), and 3 Silver energy-efficient cores (up to 1.8 GHz).

It features a Qualcomm Adreno 722 GPU with a clock speed of up to 1.15 GHz, a neural processor – a dedicated unit with up to 24 TOPS (INT8) for local AI operation without cloud latency, support for LPDDR4x (2133 MHz), LPDDR5 (3200 MHz), and LPDDR5X (4200 MHz) RAM up to 16 GB, modern wireless protocols Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and 5G networks (3GPP R17).

The chip also has full support for Linux and Android. In terms of performance, the Q-7790 surpasses the Snapdragon 865 found in the Retroid Pocket 5 and Flip 2, but it is still far from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Retroid Pocket 6.

When the full list of specifications for the Retroid Pocket Duo will be presented and how much such a console will cost is currently unknown.
