Marathon's Online Player Count on Steam Plummets to Concord's Level
Players believe that the third season, launching on September 22, could be the shooter's last.
Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon continues to lose players on Steam. According to SteamPeaks data, on September 10, the number of concurrent players dropped to 765 — just 68 players more than the historical peak of the failed Concord by Firewalk Studios, which Sony shut down less than two weeks after launch.

However, 765 players was just another anti-record for Marathon. The day before, the figure dropped to 778 users. Later, the online count slightly recovered to 781 players, but the decline remains noticeable. Marathon's average online player count in September is currently 1,892 players — 33.1% less than August's figure of 2,827 people. The current month's peak so far is 3,239 players.
For reference, at its peak, Marathon managed to attract almost 78 thousand people. The current figures indicate that 99% of the game's PC audience has left.
