Diablo IV will stop receiving major expansions

Blizzard is focused on Diablo V.

Blizzard does not plan to release new major expansions for Diablo IV until the release of Diablo V, which is expected in 2029. Game director Brent Gibson stated this in an interview with PC Gamer. According to him, the team is currently focused on further supporting Diablo IV with seasonal content, while simultaneously working on the next installment of the series.

Gibson noted that with the release of the Lord of Hatred expansion, the developers consider the storyline related to Mephisto and the "History of Hatred" to be complete. Now, Blizzard intends to gradually transition to the "History of Terror," which will become one of the directions for the franchise's future development.

However, Diablo IV will not be left without new story events. The developers plan to continue telling stories through seasonal updates. The team has enough room for experimentation: the events of Diablo V will take place approximately 100 years after the events of Diablo IV. Blizzard can explore various storylines in Diablo IV, gradually leading players to the next installment.
