Lazarus DLC will turn Cronus horror into a real action game
Journalists had the chance to play the demo.
A journalist from Wccftech had the opportunity to play the demo version of the Lazarus DLC for the horror game Cronos: The New Dawn.
One of the story sections presented in the demo takes place in the past, with the player controlling a Guardian. In approximately 30 minutes of gameplay, the journalist explored familiar locations from the original game, fought enemies, collected items, solved puzzles, and opened doors. Overall, the structure remained close to the base game, but the hero received a significantly more impressive starting arsenal.
In addition to two firearms, the Guardian possesses a Gladius — a powerful melee weapon. While in the original game melee attacks were more of a last resort, in Lazarus, close-quarters combat becomes a full-fledged part of the gameplay.
Even more interesting is the Decoy ability. The Guardian can create a decoy for a few seconds that distracts enemies. This allows the player to gain time, regain control of the situation, or even avoid confrontation entirely. This ability can be upgraded, just like the hero's other equipment.
The limited ammunition supply has not disappeared, so it is still impossible to rely entirely on weapons. Moreover, the level design of the DLC is designed for the use of the decoy, allowing the player to choose between direct confrontation and a more cautious approach.
However, the real change in pace, according to the journalist, becomes noticeable in the second part of the demo — in a specially prepared combat arena. Here, the new teleportation ability plays a key role, allowing instant movement across the battlefield, rapidly closing in on enemies, and retreating just as quickly.
At the same time, the cooldown speed of one ability increases when another is used. Bloober Team wants players to constantly use teleportation and decoy.
