Disney to Adapt "99 Nights" from Roblox with Sam Raimi

The viral horror success has attracted the attention of one of the "mouse house" divisions.

20th Century Studios has launched the development of a live-action adaptation of the popular survival horror game 99 Nights in the Forest, created by Grandma’s Favourite Games for the Roblox platform.

The script will be written by Oscar winner Josh Cooley, director of "Toy Story 4" and "Transformers One." Producers will be "Evil Dead" creator Sam Raimi and his long-time partner Rob Tapert. The original game's creators, Alec Kift, Matthew Haughton, and Cameron England, have also joined the project as executive producers.

In the original game, participants must survive 99 nights in a cursed forest, fend off creatures inhabiting the thicket, and rescue four missing children. The project was released in 2025 and has already become one of Roblox's biggest hits: to date, the game has accumulated 29.5 billion visits, and 9.5 million users have added it to their favorites.

The premiere date has not yet been announced.
