"We Are Not Animals": Haymitch Challenges the Capitol in New "Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" Trailer

The new "Hunger Games" prequel will be released in Russian cinemas on the same day as the world premiere.

A new trailer for the film "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping", based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, has appeared online. The events of the film take place 24 years before the adventures of Katniss Everdeen and tell the story of 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada.

The plot will show young Haymitch's participation in the Fiftieth Hunger Games — the Second Quarter Quell, where the number of tributes from each district was doubled. The trailer shows the hero teaming up with Maysilee Donner and opposing the Capitol led by President Snow.

In addition to Joseph Zada, the cast includes Mckenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes, Kieran Culkin, Jesse Plemons, Maya Hawke, Elle Fanning, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. Francis Lawrence, who has been working on the franchise since "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", returned as director.

The domestic release of "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" will start simultaneously with the world premiere — on November 19, 2026.
