The video, which mocked Microsoft and Xbox One, appeared in June 2013, shortly before the release of the PS4. At that time, Yoshida was the President of Worldwide Studios, and Boyes was the Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

During the promotion of the new console, Microsoft introduced a system that imposed restrictions on physical games, including requirements related to the transfer and use of discs. Sony, on the other hand, emphasized the absence of such restrictions for physical games on the PS4.
