Empire magazine has published the first image of Emma Mackey as Jadis from Greta Gerwig's film "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew". Viewers know the character as the White Witch, but here she will appear long before her reign in Narnia. The film is based on "The Magician's Nephew", the sixth published book in C.S. Lewis's series, which is the first in the internal chronology of "The Chronicles of Narnia".
At the beginning of this story, Jadis still rules Charn, a dead world where Digory and Polly accidentally arrive with the help of magical rings. The children awaken the witch, after which she follows them and eventually finds herself in Narnia at the moment of its creation.
Digory and Polly are played by David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell. The cast also includes Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, and Meryl Streep, who voiced Aslan.
Preliminary screenings of "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" in IMAX will begin on February 10, 2027. The film will be released widely on February 12, and will appear on Netflix on April 2.
