James Gunn debunked rumors of a massive crossover.

James Gunn commented on rumors of numerous cameos and secret characters in "Superman: Legacy" – the sequel to 2025's "Superman." Responding to fans on social media, the head of DC Studios called such theories "completely false" and greatly exaggerated.

According to Gunn, the film will not be a massive crossover in the style of "Avengers." The story will remain centered on Superman and Lex Luthor, who will have to unite against the threat of Brainiac:

"What secret characters? This is a Lex and Clark movie. People shouldn't expect a lot of screen time for other heroes."

However, several other DC characters will appear in the film: Aaron Pierre will play Green Lantern John Stewart, Xolo Maridueña will return as Blue Beetle, Nathan Fillion will appear as Guy Gardner, and Adria Arjona in a secret role. However, according to Gunn, despite the expanded cast of heroes, their involvement in the plot will be limited.

"Superman: Legacy" will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
