Viktor ZaycevAll ten episodes of the first season were released on Paramount+ on September 16, but the creators are already making plans for a continuation.
The creators of the animated series Golden Axe, Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler, spoke about their plans for a possible continuation. In an interview with ScreenRant, the showrunners stated that when working on the first season, they deliberately used elements from different games in the series to leave room for story development:
"There are a lot of additional characters. Some look almost like new versions of the original characters, and we would like to use them in the next season. Ideally, we could explore and expand an entire SEGA universe. But even within the world of Golden Axe itself, there is still so much more to show."
The first season reinterprets the classic 1989 SEGA game in a meta-comedy format. Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead learn of Death Adder's return and seek a way to defeat him, but they disagree.
All ten episodes were released on Paramount+ on September 16.
