It won't handle it: Rockstar releasing Grand Theft Auto VI on Switch 2 is simply pointless, says former studio employee
Former Rockstar Games developer Jeremy Hartwick believes that releasing GTA VI on Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't make much sense. He shared this in a new interview for the Kiwi Talkz YouTube channel.
According to Hartwick, the potential audience for GTA VI and the audience for Nintendo Switch 2 supposedly don't overlap much. He suggests that fans of the series who want to play the new installment would rather purchase a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, on which the game will be officially released.
Hartwick specifically noted the technical limitations of the Nintendo Switch 2. In his opinion, developers would have to make compromises to run the game on less powerful hardware, which could lead to noticeably worse quality compared to versions for current-gen consoles. In particular, the console's relatively weak central processor could potentially create problems with the large-scale simulation of the game world, to which Rockstar traditionally pays great attention.
