Castlevania: 40th Anniversary available for free on iOS and Android - the game will be removed from stores in a month

Konami celebrates the series' 40th anniversary with the return of Simon Belmont's adventure.

Konami has released the free Castlevania: 40th Anniversary on iOS and Android. The giveaway will last until October 24, 2026, after which the game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. Users who add it to their library before the end of the promotion will be able to continue playing and re-download the application.

This is a port of the original Castlevania, released for Famicom. Players will take control of vampire hunter Simon Belmont, make their way through Dracula's castle, and destroy its inhabitants with an enchanted whip.

The mobile version received touch controls using on-screen buttons and the ability to save at any time, like on emulators. Full controller support was not added, however: users are already complaining about its absence in game reviews.

Russian users face another unpleasant surprise: Castlevania: 40th Anniversary is unavailable in the domestic segments of Google Play and App Store, so an account from another region will be required to add the game to the library.
