The game will not be pushed to the background.

The release of Diablo V will not be the end of support for Diablo IV. Blizzard intends to continue releasing seasonal updates and new content for the fourth installment even after the next game in the series appears. Brent Gibson, Diablo IV Game Director, spoke about this in an interview with Icy Veins.

The developer was asked if Diablo IV would take a back seat after the official announcement of the fifth installment. Gibson assured that the team has big plans for the game's future and there is no reason to worry about support ending. As an example, he cited Diablo II and Diablo III, which still receive updates despite the existence of newer installments.

According to Gibson, Blizzard views Diablo not just as a series of individual games, but as a single universe where projects can continue to evolve in parallel. He also reminded that Diablo II recently received a new Warlock class, and the Amazon class is being prepared for Diablo IV in the future.

Separately, the game director confirmed that seasonal support for Diablo IV will continue after the release of Diablo V. Everything will depend on audience interest: as long as players return to the game and maintain community activity, the developers intend to create new content for it.
