What you wouldn't do for authenticity: GTA VI developers spent years visiting strip clubs and relaxing on Florida beaches

The development of Grand Theft Auto VI required Rockstar not only years of office work but also numerous trips to Florida to accurately recreate the fictional state of Leonida and its inhabitants.

In an interview with Game Informer, Rockstar's Senior Vice President of Narrative, Rupert Humphries, said that the team tried to gather the most diverse material for the game. According to him, developers drove through different areas at night with former police officers, visited strip clubs and nightclubs, spent time on beaches, and explored the Everglades and Florida Keys. Rockstar organized such trips for several years.

The exploration of Florida was not limited to its tourist side. Rockstar aimed to understand how different social strata and cultures coexist, as this contrast is intended to be one of the important features of the GTA VI world.
