Democracy will wait: Helldivers movie postponed to 2028 - Alan Ritchson to play the lead role
The defense of Super-Earth on cinema screens will begin seven months later than planned.
Sony Pictures has postponed the premiere of the Helldivers film adaptation from November 2027 to June 2028. The studio has not disclosed the official reason, but in recent months, the project has undergone significant changes in its cast.
In June, Jason Momoa, who was supposed to play the main role, left the film. Now Sony has officially confirmed his replacement: Alan Ritchson, known for the series "Reacher," has joined the adaptation. He will play one of the soldiers defending Super-Earth from alien threats.
Justin Lin, who directed several "Fast and Furious" installments, remains the director. Production is handled by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. Details of the plot and the names of the other cast members have not yet been announced.
The film's premiere is scheduled for June 9, 2028.
