Best Game in the Series: Critics Shower Gears of War: E-Day with High Marks
The game will be released on October 1 at 6:00 PM Moscow time, but this is only for owners of premium and collector's editions. For everyone else, the shooter will be released on October 6.
The first reviews for Gears of War: E-Day have started appearing online, and judging by the reaction of the Western press, The Coalition has managed to restore the series' former glory. Most reviewers praise the shooting, the new movement system, the presentation, and the relationship between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. At the same time, critics agree on one thing: the game is not without controversial decisions, primarily related to the open sections of the levels.
Jumping, sliding, and climbing have made gunfights more vertical and dynamic, without destroying the familiar cover mechanics.
The AI of allies, some drawn-out battles, and a lack of variety outside the main gunfight loop appear weaker.
The main drawback is the open segments, which make up approximately 30–40% of the campaign and periodically slow down the pace, as well as additional tasks, mostly requiring the player to hold a position against waves of enemies.
Gears of War: E-Day is the best game in the series. The story allows players to experience the events of Emergence Day in minute detail, immersing them in an atmosphere of horror and severe trials. At the same time, the improved movement system came in handy, and gunfights became more varied thanks to an impressive arsenal and the ability to use weapon modifications.
This dynamic, emotional, and incredibly brutal shooter is sure to appeal to both fans of the series and new players alike.
