James Gunn is Safe - New Warner Bros. Owners Will Retain DC Studios Leadership

The creators of the new DC cinematic universe will continue their work after the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros.

James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain at the helm of DC Studios after the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, at least for the foreseeable future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, on October 1, the studio executives met with David Ellison, who will lead the merged company. Ellison offered both to retain their positions and asked them to “keep doing what you’re doing.”

The publication also reports that Ellison visited the set of Gunn's “Superman” sequel, “Superman: Legacy,” this summer.

The companies plan to close the deal on October 6. The merged corporation will be named Skydance and will bring together Paramount, Warner Bros., DC, HBO, and other assets under one roof.
