Jennifer Lawrence will play the lead role in "The Deluge" — the next film by Zach Cregger, who directed the new "Resident Evil," "Barbarian," and "Weapons." The director himself confirmed her participation:
"Mike, Pam, and the entire team at Warner Bros. and New Line were an absolute dream to work with on "Weapons," and I'm incredibly excited to work with them again. Jennifer is one of a kind, and I can't wait to see her in this role."
The actress's character has not yet been officially revealed. Earlier, World of Reel journalist Jordan Ruimy, who claims to have read the script, described "The Deluge" as a mix of "Alien" and "2001: A Space Odyssey." According to his information, the main character will be the captain of a space station who, along with her crew, discovers an alien object capable of distorting time, reality, and human consciousness.
Cregger will serve as writer, director, and producer of "The Deluge." Production is handled by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, as well as Roy Lee and Miri Yoon from Vertigo Entertainment.
The premiere of the sci-fi thriller is scheduled for August 11, 2028.
