Transparent ModRetro Chromatic Portable Console Models to Meet Players on October 8

ModRetro employees officially introduced four new transparent color schemes in a new plastic case for the Chromatic portable console: purple, green, red, and smoky.

They strongly resemble the colors used in the M64 FPGA Nintendo 64 console, which the company recently released. It seems that the same buttons and the same display are used as in previous Chromatic variations, although it is not mentioned what kind of protective coating the screen has.

Previously, they used expensive sapphire glass and Gorilla Glass. So it's either the latter or something else if the new models turn out to be cheaper.

ModRetro also announced that some event will take place on October 8 at 19:30 Moscow time. Most likely, on this day, the transparent models will either be fully released and go on sale, or the team will open pre-orders for them (or gamers will simply be pleased with a presentation). Unfortunately, it is not yet known how much the new products will cost, but currently some versions of the Chromatic console on the official website can be purchased for $199.99 (16,963 rubles).

The Chromatic has a 2.56-inch backlit IPS display with a resolution of 160 × 144 pixels (10:9 aspect ratio), an enhanced loud speaker, a volume wheel, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The device runs on 3 AA batteries (lasting approximately 6–8 hours of gameplay), and also supports power and charging via a USB-C port when a proprietary lithium-ion battery is installed.

Plus, there is native support for original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges. Naturally, there is also support for its own proprietary new format Chromatic indie cartridges.
